Merry Christmas from Leonard Aitken.

Merry Christmas from Leonard Aitken.

I hope Christmas didn’t come up too quickly for you? It seemed to just appear out of nowhere for me. Still, it’s a great time of year and a great time to relax. I especially like sleeping in. I’ll be going to a Christmas barbecue tonight, which should be a welcome change and might get a chance for a swim at the beach. That’ll be great.

The one best things about today is that Christmas celebrates the fact that God came to Earth in human form, showing His great love for us. His birth was for us a symbol of our renewed life in Him.

Love is the dominating feeling of Christmas. Our families are important to us and it is a great time to share with them and let them know how we feel about them. I would prefer is our Christmases were snowy rather than hot and sweaty, but you can’t have it all your own way. A day at the beach is as much fun as snuggling in front of a warm fire, while it’s snowing outside.

Have a great day everyone.
Merry Christmas

New Title and Cover to Book of Proverbs

New Title and Cover to Book of Proverbs.

I’ve changed the cover and title of my book of Proverbs. It’s titled “The Cross Marks the Spot (inspirational sayings and proverbs for life).” The contents are still the same. I’m just finalising the process of putting the book on Createspace where it can be printed as a paperback. The paperback version is $9.99 and the kindle version (Ebook) is $3.99.

The sorts of topics covered in the book range from love versus hate to wisdom, jealousy, greed, consistency, sobriety and lust. There should be an idea or two for everyone within its pages. This book of Proverbs is written plainly. The Proverbs are mostly cutting and to the point.

The set up of the book means that a proverb has been written for each day of the year. First the proverb is presented. Then a short explanation or elaboration is outlined in case the proverb is not clear (although most are) for the reader. Third I suggest some practical applications which may or may not be followed as ways to put the ideas in the proverbs into practice. Finally I give a Bible verse which relates to the topic of the proverb and hopefully opens up a whole vista of ideas relating to the topic of the particular proverb.

The Hobbit

I am looking forward to seeing The Hobbit in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see if Peter Jackson uses the 3D as effectively as James Cameron did in Avatar. Most of the 3D movies I’ve seen grab you for  a couple of moments with some early 3D effects and then let slide. You end up wondering whether most of the rest of the film had any 3D in it at all.

I’m hoping the Hobbit will be a visual feast, but also that Peter Jackson uses his storytelling skills to give us a well rounded piece of cinema like he did in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I’m hoping for scenes like my paintings below (Plenitude) and some quirky characters.

If The Hobbit is anything like all his other films it should be great.

I don’t know if I’ll be dressing up for the night though (some of my friends are considering it). I probably look a bit like a hobbit anyway, so I don’t really see the point.
